Seattle-based DJ/producer Jeff Samuel releases his debut artist album on the Cologne-based Trapez imprint next month.
Samuel's music is anything but bleep minimal techno. On "Step" he continues down the melodic path taken on his previous releases on labels such as Poker Flat and Spectral Sound, but he also incorporates new elements such as strings and even the broken beat. Giving the whole album a deeper feeling, he rather focuses on melody and minimal grooves, instead of "trendy" minimal beats and bleeps.
Jeff Samuel's foray into electronic music began in 1995 when he first witnessed a DJ set by Detroit's Claude Young in Columbus, Ohio. Today, Jeff Samuel is a sought-after remixer with a heavy DJ and production schedule who still finds the time to make SFX for videogames.
"Step" will be released in November, 2006 on Trapez Records and will be available in stores and online at Beatport and Kompakt MP3.
