Wessel van Diepen, the host of ultra-popular show Dance Department broadcasted on Dutch Radio 538 has decided to leave.
Here's an excerpt from the email he sent to Dance Department mailinglist subscribers last week:
"There aren't many things in my life I've put more love and effort in over the last 14 years than Dance Department. And to be honest, it feels like four years at the most. It has been a tough decision last summer. But I feel I need to move on. The time is right to turn some new and some old dreams into reality. (Including the one involving Francios Kevorkian and a donkey.) Oh, and there are Grammy's to be won! My final Dance Department will be live on air next Saturday. At midnight I will present my friend Dennis Ruyer the key to the house."
Based upon Wessel's message, it looks like he's going to stop hosting the show, but the show itself will go on (with Dennis Ruyer as a host).
Wessel, you made my days when being in NL. I will never forget the sound of your show while cruising in a cabrio over Rokin and Vijzel.
Wessel, thank you for beautiful 14 years of being there for us with your “Dance Department”. I am honoured that I’ve been a part of something like that big through those lats years of the 20th century. We gonna miss you a lot! Take care, may the force be with You...Always!

I'm very happy that the show is still upfront, with amazing music, the podcast is my favourite show! Luca
