Linkage: Alex Smoke, Spirit NYC, Adam Freeland to mix for Global Underground?

December 11, 2006  |  By Sotek  |  0 Comments

- Alex Smoke will set up his own imprint at the beginning of next year. "The direction of the label will NOT be minimal house", so he is more "interested in individual takes on dancefloor genres. Ie good interesting dance music regardless of genre, with a nod to weirdness." [BeatFactor]

- "Having convinced the owner of NYC's Spirit nightclub, Robbie Wootton, to abandon his fight to reopen since the club's forcible closure in August, Jon B (the owner of nearby clubs Home and Guest House) says he'll take over its West 27th Street space and bring an upscale crowd to rock shows and big-name D.J. performances. [NYM]

- Legendary British DJ/producer Adam Freeland is about to mix a compilation for the acclaimed Global Underground series. Titled "032: Mexico City", Freeland will base his GU mix on upcoming gig at club Continental, where he is scheduled to play on January 19, 2007. The addition of Adam Freeland to GU's artist roster definitely comes as a big surprise to all GU fans.
