NRK celebrates 10 Years with 'NRK 10'

December 14, 2006  |  By Sotek  |  0 Comments

logo_label_nrk.jpgRising from the influential NRK DJ Agency, a company that handled the DJ bookings for a plethora of top DJs including Derrick Carter, Nick Holder, Angel Moraes, Ian Pooley, Carl Craig, Gemini, Steve 'Silk' Hurley, Armand Van Helden, Kenny Carpenter, John Acquaviva and many many more, the NRK Music imprint released its first 12" single in 1996.

In the 10 years, NRK have been the label behind many top producers, including Miguel Migs, Peace Division, Nick Holder, Ian Pooley, Magik Johnson and Audio Soul Project, just to name a few.

To celebrate 10 years of releasing the finest deep house and tech grooves, NRK plundered deep into the vaults to pick out 28 tracks that best showcase a decade in the dance scene. ‘NRK 10’ features many of the hi-lights from the last ten years on a triple CD, tastefully packaged in a triple CD digi-pak, with all tracks appearing in their Original full length versions.

CD 1 hi-lights include the huge Tom Middleton remix of Kerri Chandler’s “Bar A Thym” (which just picked up an award for Best Track Of The year at an NYC ceremony), the sophisticated house of Miguel Migs “Don’t Stand There” and the previously digital only Shur-I-Kan Edit of Joey Negro’s “The Way”.

Pick of the bunch on CD 2 include David Alvarado’s atmospheric “Aire”, the hugely popular John Ciafone Mix of Nick Holder’s “No More Dating DJs”, the disco jack of Ian Pooley’s “Missing You” and Paul Woolford’s electro driven 10 minute throb-a-thon “313”.

Rounding things off on CD 3, there are some key NRK moments included here such as Francois K’s Body & Soul anthem “Time & Space”, Twisted Pair’s sax frenzy “Horny Hustle”, the recent Prins Thomas cosmic re-rub of Blackjoy’s “Moustache” and Quentin Harris’ genre crossing techno-soul piece “Let’s Be Young”.

The monster 3 CD is accompanied by two limited edition 10” vinyl releases, featuring classic NRK cuts from Francois K and David Alvarado and two vinyl debuts for re-edits on Joey Negro and Nick Holder tracks.
