Berlin's Cookies cook again

After being absent in the last 2 years and five location changes between 1994 and 2001, the long-running and ultra-trendy Berlin institution Cookies has revealed its new venue earlier this month. The club is considered such a Berlin icon that it was used in the film "Lotus Style", the winner of the "Sehnsuchte" short film festival.

Again the fateful bouncers will keep away all distinction features like money, clothing or beauty and in exchange only one will assert its position: real style. Though, who's into seeing and being seen is wrong here.

The reconstructed movie theater of former Französisches Kulturinstitut (Centre Culturel), which had been used as storage room for neighbouring Westin Grand hotel, aglitters with new splendidness. Who's been in is happy that actually everything looks the same old way, even though the new location appears to be bigger and a bit more elegant than former Cookies spots Postfuhramt or Saarbrücker Strasse.

The VIP's appreciated Cookies' coolness and didn't hesitate to step in. Nicholas Cage or Nadja Auermann, Halle Berry or major Klaus Wowereit - they all made it in. But being a VIP or being on the guestlist doesn't automatically guarantee you're in. Same as Berghain, Weekend or Watergate, not taking photos is appreciated.

When Centre Culturel opened its doors in 1984 it had been the only western culture institution in former GDR. People could access foreign media and illicit movies, which caused quite a stirr and a long queue. That might happen again when Cookies will take over, navigating us once again through the future of past clubbing history.
