ManFriday's "Real Love," a very important record from none other than Larry Levan is finally being released on New York's King Street Sounds imprint. This record is not only classic but historic in the truest sense of the word.
Produced, written and performed by the Paradise Garage legend himself, Mr. Larry Levan, the vocal is an evocative ode to pure love. This is said to be the last single Levan ever recorded before his death in 1992.
Larry Levan (real name Lawrence Philpot) was the legendary DJ who for more than 10 years held court at the New York's legendary night club Paradise Garage. Quite a number of today's most successful producers and DJs credit their first exposure to his music at the Paradise Garage as a moment that changed their lives forever and inspired their whole careers.
Levan is also credited with putting the dub aesthetic into dance music and being the first DJ to play a very eclectic and open-minded mix of music. In September 2004, Levan was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievement as a DJ.
