- Wired interviews Josh Madell, co-owner of the much-vaunted Other Music record store in Manhattan's East Village to ask him about the company's plan to start selling unprotected MP3 albums at 320 Kbps from its website.
- Organizers of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival have announced the lineup for this year's event, the first to feature three days of entertainment. Of interest to the dance crowd: Bjork, Faithless, Felix Da Housecat, Tiesto, Gotan Project, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Paul Van Dyk, Richie Hawtin, Junior Boys, and many others.
- CNet reports that in one more attempt to counter music piracy, major music labels have agreed to support a service that will offer free music downloads - with some substantial restrictions - to any US college student.
Bradley University in Illinois already uses Ruckus. From what I hear the selection isn't awful, but it's free and fairly easy to get around its restrictions.
