- British Cr2 Records launched a new label - Cr2 Digital. The new imprint will feature slightly more underground club tracks. However, the new imprint will also press a very limited run of 500 vinyls for each release.

- The New York Times published an article on former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne. Among the topics explored were Byrne’s enduring influence on contemporary bands and his new musical project, Here Lies Love: a song cycle based on the life and reign of Imelda Marcos.

- Big changes are ahead at V2 Records, as the label is currently in the midst of being restructured into a catalog label. On Friday, January 12, V2's parent company Sheridan Square let the entire V2 staff go, including label president Andy Gershon.
