After a successful three years as one of New York City's premier super-clubs, the West Chelsea nightlife institution Crobar at 530 West 28th Street will be officially reborn as Studio Mezmor on February 17.
The new name is a tip of the hat to the building's original tenant, Colonel Francis Messmore. Under the new ownership, the venue has undergone a re-imagining, with improvements to the sound, video, and lighting. The main room's architecture remains the same 10,000 square feet, column free dance floor with 35 foot ceilings. The 2nd floor Mezzanine, ground level VIP, and front room have all been re-designed into lush VIP bottle-service areas.
The club's current music policy and bookings will remain intact (at least for now).
“We are the New York home to the world's best DJs and parties. We've got DJs Danny Tenaglia, Tiesto, Victor Calderone, Roger Sanchez, Deep Dish, Pete Tong and Paul Oakenfold, all under one roof. Hands down, we are the undisputed heavyweight champion of NYC nightlife,” says music director and nightclub industry veteran Eric Ortense. Well.. Erick Morillo says the same about Pacha. You choose.
