King Britt mixes Wave Music's Deep & Sexy 4

Francois K's own house and dub oriented imprint Wave Music will release fourth installment of the acclaimed "Deep & Sexy" compilation series next month.

Compiled and mixed by Philadelphia-based DJ and producer King Britt, "Deep & Sexy 4" is a follow-up to previous comps by Ron Trent, Matthias "Matty" Heilbronn, and label honcho Francois K.

Mixed and edited entirely using Ableton Live, Britt invited fellow DJ and producer Rich Medina, singer Ursula Rucker, Cynthia Mauger, and Maria Siravo, into the studio to record a few vocal overdubs to enrich the mix.

"First I picked all the songs that I wanted in the mix, then I culled them down to ones that may be pieced together to create a completely new track. I made three turntable tracks which would be as if I was DJing. I also made a track of all my re-edits and loops, as well as a track of acapella and samples. In Ableton Live 6 I put them all together using production techniques rather than only mixing records. I really loved mixing this way," comments Britt.

Britt collaborator and session guitarist, Tim Motzer, also put his touch on this project by laying down a few guitar lines. Britt himself (under the Scuba moniker) co-wrote and produced "Love For You" as an exclusive single for the compilation.
