Linkage: NYC nightlife, Solar, P2P study, Jay Haze

February 12, 2007  |  By Sotek  |  0 Comments

- This week's issue of New York Magazine has a big feature about the glitz, debauchery, and trouble of West 27th Street nightclubs in New York's West Chelsea district of Manhattan. In the wake of murders, shootings, raids, accidental deaths, underage drinking, rapes and neighborhood complaints, the clubs have been under the microscope by city officials for almost a year now.

- After moving to London, Solar has been quite busy preparing his premier vinyl release, "Aone EP," which consists of two anthemic tracks. Out February 19 on Love Triangle Music, the EP is accompanied with remixes from the Belgian duo Pitch & Hold and a digital-only remix from Williams.

- A new study in the "Journal of Political Economy" by Felix Oberholzer-Gee and Koleman Strumpf has found that illegal music downloads have had no noticeable effects on the sale of music, contrary to the claims of the recording industry. [via ArsTechnica]

- Fuckpony mastermind Jay Haze takes a break from house and techno to try his hand at hip hop. "Keep it Real" is the promo single off his new album, tentatively titled "Love and Beyond…From the Schizophrenic Mind of Jay Haze," which he hopes to release later this year. [via ResidentAdvisor]
