NYC: BED nightclub calls it quits

February 08, 2007  |  By Sotek  |  0 Comments

200702_bed_new_york.gifNew York's trendy West Chelsea nightclub / restaurant B.E.D., located on West 27th Street, apparently calls it quits after last week's fatal accident when a man who had been celebrating his birthday at the club falls from the elevator car after an argument with club employees.

According to Eater, a sign posted on the club's door said it is now closed.

Although the closing has not been officially confirmed yet, one of Eater's sources suggests that "[I] got an email from a friend with business at BED, who received an email from someone who works there saying they were not going to re-open."

Located in a bi-level penthouse at 530 West 27th Street (the very same building legendary Twilo used to call its home), B.E.D. New York was the first downtown restaurant to combine two dining floors with a 360-degree rooftop view of the midtown New York skyline. Measuring more than 15,000 square feet, the venue opened in January 2005 to rave reviews and quickly became the destination hot spot for many celebrities.

B.E.D.'s signature concept was originated by owner Oliver Hoyos with B.E.D. Miami in December 1999 and since then he has launched New York and Atlanta outpost.
