Paul Hartnoll, one half of the pioneering duo Orbital, will release his debut solo album, The Ideal Condition, his first major release since he and his brother disbanded their legendary group three years ago.
With arranger Chris Elliott, Hartnoll set about reversing the usual process and presented his compositions to an orchestra. The results of this union, 32 piece choir and the whole compliment of electronics are heard on the opening track, "Haven't We Met Before," which Hartnoll descibes as "the fullest track on the record in terms of the amount of people playing on it and number of different parts."
The LP also includes the 2006's single Patchwork Guilt, as Hartnoll says: "the only track on the album that's entirely electronic and entirely played by me."
In addition to Metro Voices choir, guests and vocal contributions on the album include The Cure’s Robert Smith, U.S. singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur ("Aggro"), Brighton's Lianne Hall ("For Silence") and London-based Akayzia Parker ("Nothing Else Matters.")
The first single from the LP, "Please", will be released on April 30 on through UK's We Are Down With The Kids imprint with remixes by Statik, Delafonz, and others.
