May 05, 2007  |  By Sotek  |  0 Comments

200705_mansion_miami_logo.gifStar Island Entertainment, the management company behind Miami Beach nightclub Mansion and several other South Beach hot spots, has filed suit in U.S. District Court in Boston against the Hub Club alleging trademark infringement over the Boston club's use of the name "Mansion."

According to the lawsuit The Hub Mansion club, which is located on Boylston Street in Boston and is owned and operated by the Lyons Group and Big Night Entertainment, is passing itself off as a northern branch of the celebrity-studded South Beach hot spot.

The lawsuit also states that Boston’s Mansion use a similar online domain name (mansionboston.com) and its description on its Web site is also similar.

Boston Herald reports that the Miami-based company is seeking damages amounting to three times the profit made since the Boston club opened on February 15, 2007.

Speaking of Mansion Miami: There's some rumours floating around that the Miami-based club institution will be opening its New York City outpost later this year in the old Crobar space.
