After pop star Shakira, who had dropped off her planned Beirut date for her "Oral Fixation" tour this summer, now the beloved (and hated) Dutch trance DJ Tiësto could be another one to cancel his scheduled Beirut appearance.
According to the Lebanese website Ya Libnan rumors have emerged that Fatah al-Islam terrorist cell has directly threatened to kill Tiësto if he dares to show up for his planned July 2 concert performance in Beirut.
The site also reports that on October 1, 2005, Tiesto broke records when over 16,000 people showed up to party with their beloved Tiësto at his long awaited debut in Beirut. The event, which took place at Forum de Beirut, has been coined the largest event ever in the Middle East.
As much as we are tempted to laugh about this, that's just horrible. Lebanese people just want to go out, have fun, dance and listen to music. What's wrong with that?

Update: "Ya Libnan Volunteer Ramzi Al-Hussein made a mistake in propagating a false rumor on the alleged threats made by Fatah al-Islam. After further investigations, the threats appear to be a hoax and have no basis for inclusion in our publication." [Ya Libnan]
