It the first part we gave you our top summer festival picks for Germany, The Netherlands and Ukraine. Now, in the second part, we will take you to Spain, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Serbia, Finland, Belgium and Czech Republic.
Spain
To all of you who fancy beaches, clinical atmosphere and stoned freaks, the trade show ambience of Barelona's Sonar (June 14th-16th) should do it. Once again this year the festival returns to the Fira Gran Via (M2) area of Barcelona.
Ok, the Beastie Boys will perform and also Timo Maas. Modeselektor and Richie Hawtin also stand for quality sound. But on the other hand, high entrance fees, crushing people and lots of junkies gave this festival a negative vibe over the past years; but the club events surrounding Sonar are well worth going.
Slightly different is the vibe of Creamfields Andalucia. For the fourth year running the festival will take place at the beautiful Playa de Villaricos in Almeria on August 11th.
Next to Mr. John "I have a new hair-cur" Digweed, The Prodigy and Modeselektor (live) the much praised Basement Jaxx duo will play a live gig. For techno lovers Steve Bug, Josh Wink, Ame, Booka Shade (live), James Holden, Agoria (live) and Luciano are on the bill.
Poland
Poland is famous for its knocking parties and last year's Creamfields Poland is still in our memories. Once again the event will take place around the city of Wroclaw (Breslau).
This time the magical date is July 7th (or 2007-07-07).
To be honest, though, comparing to 2006 this year's line-up is a bit more cut-down as the only confirmed big-name acts are The Prodigy, Vitalic (live), Jeff Mills, Chris Liebing and Moshic.
Sunrise is no newbie on the bill. Since 2001 the attendance have been growing steadily and today this festival is being advertised as the biggest beach party in Europe.
The city of Kolobrzeg is located on the Baltic Sea, in the middle of the way from Szczecin to Gdansk.
On July 20th-22th expect a crowd of 40,000 people sweating while dancing to (mainly) trance music. On the bill, among many others, are Robbie Rivera, Lucca, Ferry Corsten, Johan Gielen, Mauro Picotto and Erick E.
Russia
July 21st. It's time to book your flights visas kids! Within a short time Fortdance became one of Russia's finest festivals. Again the boat transfer will bring lots of people to the Kronshdadt fortress which is an amazing venue. Fortdance has an amazingly sexy crowd and stunning visuals.
This year the festival will see appearances of Hernan Cattaneo, Armin van Buuren, SCSI 9 (live), Roger Sanchez, Gui Borrato (live), Moonbootica, Annie Mac and a string of Russian DJs. You can check out some of the photos of last year's Fortdance here.
Hungary
Sziget actually needs no further introduction. Lasting a whole week (August 8th-15th) and presenting more than just electronic music, that's what Sziget is about. Actually it's even more. Where else can you sit on a beach and enjoy the sunset while being only steps away from a European metropolis? Óbuda, an island in Danube river, an old shipyard and even taller than 70 football fields is the stage of Hungary's most patronized festival.
Expect to see The Chemical Brothers, Sinéad O'Connor, The Hives, Faithless, Pink, Laurent Garnier, Gus Gus, Nine Inch Nails and many more.
Serbia
Danube river is being involved again when Serbia celebrates its critically acclaimed Exit festival. Only a bit more than 50 days left and the Novi Sad fortress above Danube river will be an arena of music again from July 12th-15th.
Exit's three stages will offer performances by Basement Jaxx, LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Richie Hawtin, Trentemoller (live), Collabs 3000 (Chris Liebing & Speedy J live), Magda and many more.
Finland
The annual forest festival Konetmetsä and lots of Finlandia Vodka - that is surely a quite cool way to celebrate electronic music under the super clean Scandinavian sky.
Two stages and a chill-out area will await you from July 6th-8th at the small camping area near Turku.
Confirmed acts so far are Tristan, D-Nox, Eat Static, Troll Scientists, Koxbox, Beckers, Quantum Leap and literally dozens of others.
Belgium
The promoters of the legendary Belgian event I Love Techno haven't announced this year's official line-up yet but there's no reason for not being excited nor not going.
Each and every year I love Techno brings top talent including some of the best techno spinners from all over the world. 2007's festival will surely be no exception.
Expect crowd of approximately 35,000 people and a massive hangover. Book your flight to Belgium for November 10th.
Czech Republic
Zavodiste Pardubice. That's where on August 18th the notorious Summer Of Love, one of Czech Republic's finest open air festivals, will take place. As German poet Goethe said: "Don't go there if you're not fancying good music, beautiful girls and nature...".
Last year Adam Freeland and Chris Liebing took the crowds by storm. This year we're looking forward to see live performances by the Audiobullys and Ellen Allien & Apparat in addition to the likes of Chris Liebing, Joris Voorn, Evil Nine, Markus Schulz, and numerous local DJs.

I'm dissapointed you only mentioned "I love techno" for Belgium, in fact it's not even a real festival imho, it's inside a giant sort of warehouse and it's gotten too big these last years. For electronic music there's "10 days of" and ofcourse "Dour festival", 2 events that capture the festival atmosphere a lot better than ILT |

drdmn > You're more than welcome to add more events and let us know your picks. I'm sure there's prenty of other good festivals in Belgium happening this summer - not just I Love Techno. |
