The British dub-tech innovators Swayzak (a.k.a. James Taylor and David Brown) have released their fifth studio proper, Some Other Coutry, on !K7.
If you are familiar with their discography you'll notice immediately that sound has been again stripped down and takes a gigantic leap from their previous, more dance-oriented effort, Loops From the Bergerie (2004). Some Other Coutry is filled with darkness and minimalism and emphasizes more on the listening aspect. However, the duo still manages to find a near-perfect balance between instrumental sounds, dreamy lyrics and those moody textures they're known for.
Guests on the album included their favorite singer, Richard Davis, Italian pop band Les Fauves and, quite surprisingly, Berlin producer and DJ Cassy who lends her voice to "Quiet Life" and "Smile and Receive".
The result is an album that sounds dark, moody and mysterious; quite anything you've heard from them before. Grab it. Excellent stuff.
