Download: Luciano - BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, 2008-01-26

Chilean minimal techno DJ, producer and Cadenza label honcho Lucien Nicolet, a.k.a. Luciano, provides this week's Essential Mix on UK's BBC Radio 1.

This mix is long overdue, however, I don't like when artists use their two hour slot just to showcase material from their own label(s). Someone with as much resources as Luciano has could do much better...

Download: Direct (save as..) [192kbps MP3, ~165 MB]

Please DO NOT repost the direct MP3 link. Bandwidth costs money. Use this link instead. Thank you!

Luciano - Los Update, isn't it? because the one after it is definitely "Fochedrem"

Luciano - Los Update, isn't it? because the one after it is definitely "Fochedrem" it can also be heard on Villalobos's NYE set in Rumania / actually the mix on the NYE set is much better IMO

The song with the vocals is probably from the Los Updates album coming soon on Cadenza, check out this interview with Luciano (especially his answer to the last question)

Thanks Madis! Downloading all six..

About just playing your own tracks. Ricardo Villalobos does the same on fabric 36 mix. It's all just tracks an dremixes he has done right?
it's interesting how bands can play just their own stuff but when a DJ does it is all of a sudden 'not done'...

@ivos: "it's interesting how bands can play just their own stuff but when a DJ does it is all of a sudden 'not done'..."

Bands play their own music. DJs play (mostly if not only) other people's music.

I think the flow of the mix is pretty nice. Why is it necessary to look at the tracklisting? I guess because we are all djs and want to be up on who is playing what. I think its impressive that the guy has a label that is putting out quality tunes and in the end shouldn't it be about whether you get off on the mix or not?

I've heard people bitch that djs only play other people's music and now we're complaining that he's playing only his and his labels music?

As for minimal, some people really hate it. To me its nice because minimal allows the elements to really breath. Its similar to Modern furniture and architecture. You either love it or you hate it.

Listened to this over and over again and just love it! Makes a real change from just minimal techno, the musical parts add an extra spin to it... Saw him in Fabric back in Nov and he instantly became my favourite DJ - theres something special about him I can tell you...

I can take care of that Patrick...Our main man Sotek is taking a bit of a sabbatical, so the site hasn't been updated for a bit...just fyi, there's a 'Wanted and Requests' section in the main forum :-)

this mix is amazing, what is important is the music not which label it belongs to, if he wanted to show the stuff in his 2 hour time then let it be, go with the flow and enjoy what he wanted to show

let the music be free and stop putting barriers and limitation as to what a person should or should not do it only limits the evolution of it all
