When I'm DJing I like to compose. I'm always bringing vocals or acapellas into my sets. Vinyl is like an analogue instrument and you must do something with that instrument. It's meant as material for young DJs to do something with. DJs should do things like record keys at home and then mix things together. I think that makes things more exciting, when people at a club night suddenly hear an acapella from a seventies hit. You are bringing two worlds together. This allows you to advance electronic music.
I'm not sure about such statements after listening to his recent Essential Mix. Whatever.

Hey Guys, I love the site and I check it out everyday, but you need to start getting your own articles. Showing Resident Advisor posts everyday is getting boring. Let me know if you need some topic ideas because theres plenty happening out there right now. Cheers, Jamie |

I don't know about you guys, but mixing 70's vocals over a techno record doesn't sound very progressive to me... |

@Jamie: Thanks for reading and thanks for your feedback. I agree with you 100% that we need to focus on original content and not just link to articles and stuff found on the web. However, I'm dealing with some changes in my personal life (moving out, new job, etc.) so time is precious right now. Everything should be straighten up in next couple of week or so... hopefully. Also if you have any new tips or interesting stuff you would like to share - feel free to email us. Best, Sotek / Filter27.com |

Nice theory! At least he knows how to do it... Luciano should become Politician... :-))))) Resident Advisor could be a Campaign Adviser then. But lets stop here, I am sure there are people out there who might think my statement is an idea, not criticism . |

For the record: We only link to external articles, sites and blogs that could be of interest to our readers. We don't steal content from other sources/blogs, nor question the credibility of such sites. Generally speaking, a little 'link love' never hurts ;-) Apparently, in some cases it does. Peace out. |

I understand running a site like this is not easy. I do appreciate the hard work and effort. The redesign is great too! @ Karl "I don't know about you guys, but mixing 70's vocals over a techno record doesn't sound very progressive to me..." Its all how your see progression. Playing records is like painting a picture, whether the paints are new or old the end result is the sum of the two. Its still better then electrohouse. :) |

The mix he did was a bit odd to be honest. It was all cadenza / luciano productions and that's not really reflective of what he's been playing for the past year or so. He plays loads of house these days, and some really old stuff too, old strictly rhythm stuff – this mix was a bit sterile. I'm not sure if he just used it as an opportunity to promote cadenza, or whether he was made to, whatever. I just know he's amazing in a Fabric situation, and a real talent. But yes, essential mix was poor. |
