M.I.A has unveiled the official video to her brand new track "Born Free" yesterday. Directed by Romain Gavras — famed for his music videos for the likes of Justice, Simian Mobile Disco and DJ Mehdi — the video contains graphic violence and nudity. Obviously, the video is NSFW.
"Born Free," which samples the track "Ghost Rider" by the legendary New York band Suicide, will be on M.I.A's third and yet untitled album out June 29.
I think the video/track "Born Free" is brilliant and necessary. If you haven't seen it, view it. Its powerful. Artists like M.I.A are long over due. We need more artists who are willing to take risks and speak out about issues of social injustices. The world will not change unless people are willing to take risks and speak out. We need more little children who point to the Emperor and say, "HEY, THAT EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES." M.I.A is one child who speaks from the heart and speaks truth to power. She is a hero.
i can't wait to see M.I.A. at HARD, i love this new song!
I completely agree with Midwest Guy, there are not many artists still out there writing/singing for a cause, and MIA does that to perfection. We will be covering her at HARD, La and NY, I wonder how she will perform this live???
I like this song
thank you for you share
great
